Our last full day in Denmark was filled in by visiting:
Vejen Art Museum: Home of 19th century sculptures in Vejen. There were several other people mulling around while we were trying to geocache, I’m not sure what they were doing because the museum is open every day but Monday
Vejen town centre: they obviously don’t do Monday’s either so we were limited to dining at the supermarket bakery. That’s a Danish sausage roll in the photo.
The Kolding Geographical Park/Botanical Gardens: This is the first time we have paid to see a Botanical Garden, the roses were worth it, but slushing around on poorly maintained wet paths, a petting zoo of only goats and chickens and non-descript bushlands made me seriously question where the money went.
Kolding Miniby: A miniature village in the botanical gardens. Volunteers are making and maintaining the buildings to resemble Kolding from 1860 to 1870.
Kolding Castle: The castle has been destroyed and reconstructed a few times in the past. Today it has been reconstructed enough to make it a watertight tourist museum.
Odd Fellows Order: we didn’t go in because we aren’t members of the Order, but the car park is handy to the castle.
Today’s ABBA tribute is ‘Angel Eyes’ (1979), for the two cats at the Botanical garden. One was very well behaved, the other looked cute but on closer inspection he was chewing his way through a mouse. We saw him later smooching up to picnickers.
Look into his angel eyes You’ll think you’re in paradise Then one day you’ll find out he wears a disguise Don’t look too deep into those angel eyes – (or in the case of the cat, don’t look to close at what’s in front of him)
